Look what Santa brought me!

A beautiful vintage typewriter, in perfect working order!
I guess Santa (or, my wonderful best friend H
), must’ve read my blogpost post a few months back, because it’s exactly what I was dreaming of! The perfect shade of aqua with cream keys and a matching case. It’s completely beautiful!
I’ve been as busy as any Girl Friday, typing letters and lists and pointless pages of nonsense. I even offered to take minutes in one of N’s business meetings this week, but he politely declined.

I just love it. I love the complex mechanics that work with effortless simplicity; I love the uneven characters with *real* character, and I especially love the ‘ping!’ that sounds at the end of each line. I’ve been playing with it so much that I caught myself trying to check my emails on it yesterday…
But now… what to type next? I cannot possibly submit to the idea that it is impractical – its beauty renders it essential to everyday life! & yet, I can’t really take it to work, and my blog would become a little limited if I moved it all to paper.

So, do any of you fancy receiving a blotchy, mistake-filled letter sometime in the next few months? If so, leave me a little comment with your email address & I’ll see what I can do!
From Wonderland, with Love, Sara xx
not only that, but I already wrote one for you

Love your typewriter! And I saw some Cath Kidson paper in the art gallery bookstore the other day that reminded me of you!
Oh my word it’s beautiful. My father was a sports writer for a Boston newspaper back in the 70′s. I remember hearing that typewriter all the time when I was a girl.

I remember using my mom’s old typewriter to type up my school papers before we had a computer and printer and way before internet. I’m really not that old, though! I don’t know where it got to…
So, are you able to find ribbon for it?
Taylor B.
beautiful type writer! i can so picture you in your lovely dresses and typing away..

Its beautiful and matches bunny and your camera! I love receiving letters so you can send me one if you like, although you would have to have a boring old computer reply as i no longer have a ‘proper’ typewriter!
oh gosh! that has to be the most gorgeous typewriter in existence i think!
i’m sure you’ll find many uses for it…pretty things are always useful!
Now you have the perfect excuse to start a novel of marvelloso standards! It might take you 12 years to type it all, but it’s worth it for all the ‘pings!’ x
That type writer is fantastic! I could never use one since I’m terrible at typing, but don’t they just appeal to your romantic non-sensibilities?

Natty, I love that CK is now global and even more, that it still reminds you of me
xx
Hipchick, what a gorgeous memory! I bet the sound is really nostalgic for you! x
Taylor, you must’ve been a better typist than me! I can’t seem to type a single word without a mistake, much less a full essay! It sounds lovely, though!
I’ve found a little local firm that still stock the ribbon, so I think I’m in luck! Yet to order some though…Sybil, that’s exactly what I’ve been doing! I find myself dressing up just to use it! hehe!
Gill, you’re completely right – it matches my whole life! Do I have your new address to write to you at? x
Sara, I quite agree! Even if it means labelling my bookshelves, I will find a use for this baby! x
Hannah, what a wonderful idea! 12 years of pings and a publishing deal at the end of it!

The Clothes Horse, exactly. Romance all the way, and I’m trying to imagine my typos and blots add to the charm somehow

My friend who lives in New York is an older man, and he always wrote me letters on the typewriter. I love them. If you feel like writing me anything, I would love it! I have my great grandmas old typewriter.
They’re fun.
Thank you for finding my blog, yours is adorable, I love this design! I would love to receive a letter from you, especially since I’ve been lusting over typewriters lately!
Kyla Roma
Kyla, thanks so much for stopping by and being so kind!
Missy, I love that story! I’ll definitely write to you, but don’t expect me to meet his standards! haha! x

Wow! What a beauty!I now have some serious typewriter envy!
Seeing these pics has transported me back to when I was young and my Mum had one. The rhythmic tapping had a certain soothing quality to it and I still remember the thrill of being allowed to have a go! How lucky you are to have your very own! Perhaps you should go in search of a foreign pen-friend (I loved this when I was at school!) with whom you could exchange beautifully typed letters? Just a thought
Until then I would love to receive a letter from you!
As you can tell, I’ve done a little blog wandering! I got a beautiful typewriter from santa, too…and blogged about it, of course.
